Christian Ministers Association Conference

23 Oct

This weekend was a blast! I was blessed to be able to bring a band and some Teen Challenge students to Vernon on a whirlwind road trip to a pastor’s conference!

We were able to do two chapel services at the Teen Challenge Men’s Center in Winfield. I personally had a great time chatting with staff and students at the center. Also our team was personally blessed to sit under the teaching of John Paul Jackson, Alan Simpson and Kirk Duncan..

Also, worshipping with Brian West was a treat as usual..

Here is a clip of a number we did on Tuesday evening:

The fat pastor you’re looking at is moi. I just wanted to post this pic as a sou-vie from my last “gig”. On last Saturday night I was able to go lead the “Chop Liver Band” in a rocking, loud worship set of Rocking gospel, and passionate praise. the band was awesome. My good friend Brent Miller was able to join me for the first time since last years ‘Back To The Blues Festival”!

I must admit, I was a little nervous about preaching to the sometimes “tough crowd”, but God was faithful to give me the right things to say.. My friend Steve says “Prepare your life, and God will prepare your message!”

The music was pretty fun too! I’ll post some vids later.. shalom!

Darrell Lahay and The Chop Liver Band

5 Aug

We had way too much fun this year at B2B. The lineup this year for the Chop Liver Band was much different than last year..

Darrell: vocals and lead guitar
Jason: rhythm guitar
Curtis: trumpet and acoustic guitar, vocals
Paul: congas, jaw harp, shakers
Joy: saxophone, vocals
Lisa-Joy: trombone, vocals
Dean: keyboard, Hammond B3, washboard
Kristian: bass guitar
Dale: drums

As you can see in the pic, it was a tight fit for the stage this year! So much fun though!

This festival is getting better and better each year. I really see god’s favor on this event through the quality of musicians and bands who come out. Some of my favorites were Bush Weibe, the Mennonite Bluesman, and Dusty Shoes from Abbotsford. Darrell Mansfield, johnny Mannion and Larry Howard were spectacular. Chilliwack is really fortunate to have this much talent in one place…

It was really fun to hang out with friends, and let the kids enjoy themselves. This was a weekend to remember!

God amazes me with the gifts he gives people. This clip is my friend playing his bass in the Teen Challenge Chapel in Chilliwack. I am stoked to have him playing bass with the Chop Liver Band this year at Blues fest!

Nicky And The Cruisers

This video is from awhile ago..I’m on the right. The Gossett brothers on guitar and bass. Jason Legg on drums. Not the most “authentic” gear for 50′s music. Jason is playing electric drums, I’m using a pawn-shop Samick.  Some of the songs we just figured out on the fly. It was fun!

Paul Harnett
Paul Harnett

I had an absolute blast with six other musicians on Saturday night. It was a small intimate setting in Fort Langley, as we played an intense set of worship. It’s also been a great privilege too play with my friend Paul Harnett. Paul is a bible teacher at Teen Challenge, and has an amazing anointing to blow the shofar, as well as play many types of percussive instruments..Shalom!
